Valena Grindlinger
September 7, 1934 - March 6, 2023
Valena (Lee/Lena) Grindlinger, 88 of Green Valley, AZ passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 6, 2023 after a courageous battle with bladder cancer.
Lee was born on September 7, 1934 in Shouns, Tennessee. She was daughter number 4 in the Snyder clan of 7. Her family moved frequently when she was a young girl. After graduating from Kennett High School, PA, Lee began her career working for DuPont. She and her husband, Charles, moved to New York City where Lee advanced her career. During those years she enjoyed world travel visiting France, Portugal, Spain, Venezuela, Caracas and many other states and countries. She later transferred to Delaware where her career was abruptly ended when she was in a car accident. In 1988, Lee rededicated her life to our Lord Jesus Christ. The void in her heart that she had struggled to fill with earthly things was filled with the peace of God. Out of all of life's lessons, what Lee was most grateful for was the teaching her Daddy gave when she was a little girl on how to receive eternal life. In 2001 Lee and her then husband, Bernie, moved to Green Valley, AZ where she made many friends and enjoyed sharing and growing in her love for Christ.
Lee enjoyed travel, golf, Bible study, writing, adult coloring books, conversations and time spent with her family and friends.
Now it's Lee's turn to have a “party with Jesus” and the rest of her family members and loved ones that went before her.
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.
John 11:25-26
Lee is survived by her beloved brother, David Snyder, Jr, adored "grandchildren" Emily and Ethan Samick who affectionately referred to her as Mom-mom Lee, and many beloved nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents David and Blanche Snyder, brother Malon Snyder, sisters Margaret Wisniewski, Thelma Witt, Reba Greer, Norma Jean Cross, nephew Steve Billings, great nephews Jim Stewart, Jr. and Matthew Billings.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to her hospice nurse- Louann who cared for her since the day she received her diagnosis and became an extended part of our family and Lee's caregivers who were there for her final 5 days of her life. We would also like to thank her local Arizona "family"- Kathy and Larry, Donna and Shannon, Marylynn, Joy and Nita. Your caring, friendship and support means so much to our family.
